The University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia is an Italian Public Institution devoted to research and higher education.

IUSS aims to contribute to the appreciation of talented students, offering high quality training courses that enhance their skills, as well as opportunities for scientific and cultural enrichment. IUSS contributes to the progress of science by training young people in research and developing scientific research programs. IUSS courses offer a strong interdisciplinary approach, in the fields of risk reduction and understanding and management of extreme events. IUSS is also committed to scientific progress by promoting Ph.D. programs and developing research activities at an international level.

Role

IUSS coordinates ECFAS, managing intra- and extra-consortium cooperation and execution of the work plan. IUSS handles legal, financial and administrative aspects of the project. IUSS contributes to the majority of WPs, leading WP1, and with significant effort in WP2, WP5 and WP6.

Team Leader

Dr. Clara Armaroli is the coordinator of ECFAS for IUSS Pavia. She is a Senior Assistant Professor at the University of Bologna working on coastal processes. She has a PhD on beach morphodynamics. She has extensive experience in ground-based remote sensing, shoreline monitoring and modelling, and coastal geomorphology. She is an Guest Associate Editor for Geohazards and Georisks of the international journal Frontiers in Earth Science. She had roles of responsibility in several EU projects (CoastView, MICORE, RISC-KIT, ANYWHERE).
