ECFAS Joins the Sea Level Conference 2022 in Venice

ECFAS took part in the Knowledge Hub Sea Level Rise Conference, which took place in Venice, Italy from 17-18 October, 2022. The Knowledge Hub on Sea Level Rise is a joint effort by JPI Climate & JPI Oceans, focusing on regional to local sea level changes in Europe. It aims to support the development and implementation of related policies at local, national and European level by providing a networking platform to promote exchange, synthesis, integration and generation of knowledge on regional and global, historic and future sea level rise.

The Sea Level Rise Conference brought together researchers, stakeholders and policy professionals to exchange on regional to local sea level change in Europe. This first edition took place at the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista of Venice, a centuries-old institution at the heart of one of Europe’s foremost coastal cities challenged by sea level rise.

ECFAS expert, Dr. Angelique Melet, Mercator Ocean International, took part in the conference with a presentation that featured ECFAS entitled, “How to get from global to local projections of sea level changes?” Angelique leads the development of ECFAS’ early warning systems, investigating total water levels, forecasts, hindcasts and flood warning triggering.
